SOUTH BAY ART

from the series 500 CALIFORNIA LANDSCAPES by BOB FREIMARK

For a long period our country has been involved in a horrible war. We have killed thousands of people to usurp their property, their resources, and their rights. We are right back where we started with the American Indians. Our national credo based on equality and fairness should elevate us to a higher plane, and assist us to find uplifiting solutions to our problems. We desperately need leadership that can learn from past mistakes, and lead us to clear understanding and peace, both within ourselves and with our neighbors.

We have systematically eliminated much of the schooling and culture that promoted the humanities and arts in our daily lives. These are the very ingredients that can assist us in the healing process we now require. I am an abstract expressionist artist. However, for this one exhibition, I am moving back to figurative expressions of nature in the form of landscape for it may be that only nature in its various manifestations can lead us back to the reasonable and decent America for which we all aspire. It is this measure of health, warmth and good feeling as depicted through our intimacy with the land that I wish to reintroduce to the American genre, to surround us in our homes and permeate our spirit.
